While doing my fair share of research on Instagram worthy cafes/restaurants in NYC, I came across Blank Slate Tea, a tea shop located in Midtown. I knew this pink dream needed to become reality, so I grabbed my bestie, Nimita, and brought her on a blogging adventure with me.
As soon as we arrived, we could not help ourselves but spend a moment to take in all the pink colors, floral patterns, and gold details this cafe was filled with. The cafe is fairly small and allows for a cozy get-together with a close friend.
We were greeted by Lillie, who was super sweet and gave us the low down on the best “photo” worthy (but also most delicious) items to order. She recommended a selection of dishes:
Blueberry Lavender Waffle: The presentation of this waffle was almost too pretty to eat. It is a Belgium sugar coated waffle topped with blueberries, blueberry sweet cream, Earl Grey syrup, and edible flower petals. With every bite, we could taste a subtle hint of lavender. Also, the syrup wasn’t overpowering in sweetness. Definitely our favorite!
Rose Gold Dip: Again, the presentation on this one was just as impressive. It’s a rose flavored dip served with cookies and fresh strawberries. The dip seemed to be a mixture of yogurt and a hint of rose. I loved that they added gold edible beads to meet the “rose gold” theme. While this was definitely tasty, I recommend ordering only if you have a party of 4 or more. They give a lot of cookies and strawberries!
Pink Hummus Toast: This dish comes with 2 pieces of Country toast (reminds me of wheat sourdough), with a beet hummus spread. That’s why it’s called pink hummus toast! (Akshay’s note: no kidding?) It’s then topped with goat cheese crumbles, black sesame, fresh mint. They then drizzle it with a pomegranate molasses. The flavors meshed really well together, and it was a nice refresher from all the sweet dishes we ordered.
Additionally, we paired our meal with an iced hibiscus tea and a rose tea latte. Even when its 30 degrees outside, I still will order a cold drink! It’s just so refreshing to me. However, the rose tea latte was very pretty, and Nimita enjoyed every sip.
We had such a great time at Blank Slate Tea NYC and cannot wait to come back and visit! Thank you Lillie and Hanna for hosting us! If you ever find yourself in the city, make sure to visit Blank Slate Tea yourself (here’s the website)!
