2018 New Year’s Resolutions

I’m happy to admit that 2017 has been the best year yet with all the wonderful adventures and life changing moments Akshay and I have experienced. However, I cannot wait to see what 2018 has in store for us! I’m ready for a fresh start and a new perspective, which is why I’ve decided to list out my top five New Year’s resolutions.

2018 is going to be the year of change! This time, I’m going to hold myself accountable and track my goals.

New Year’s Resolutions #1 – Keep Networking: Recently, I joined the Socal Blogger Babes group, which is a community of bloggers who come together and provide unconditional support for each other. Not only have I had the opportunity to attend some cool events, but I’ve also made some pretty awesome friendships! Its been very refreshing to be around other girls who are passionate, helpful, and genuinely want each other to succeed. In fact, my blogger friend, Marshel, let me join in on her photo shoot at our holiday party. And now I have photos for this blog post! It’s also a plus that they love taking Boomerangs just as much as I do! (Akshay’s note: Oh dear God.) My 2018 goal is to become more involved with this group, continue partnering with new brands, and strengthen my network of boss babes. (Akshay’s note: I didn’t realize all you babes had people working under you. Because that’s the definition of ‘boss’..)

New Year’s Resolutions #2 – Stay Creative: In 2016, Akshay and I started this blog as a casual outlet to document our memories. There was no real direction or strategy on where we wanted to take it. For three months before the wedding, my life revolved around planning every little detail for our special day. When it was finally over, I felt a bit lost since I suddenly had all this free time. Since then, I have directed my energy into keeping this blog alive. My goal for 2018 is to develop some of my artistic skills. I plan to redesign my blog, take some photography classes (and learn how to use my mirrorless Fuji camera), and dabble in some basic html.

New Year’s Resolutions #3 – Redesign our Home: When we first moved into our apartment, I spent so much time decorating it and making it feel like a home. As time passed, the apartment gathered clutter due to the lack of storage space, and I became lazy.  Since we are renewing our lease for another year, it’s time to make some changes! I plan to redesign our living room/dining area when we return from Japan, with the big project being how to make a bookshelf look beautiful with board games. I have mentioned that I love design, so I think this would be an amazing opportunity to explore that passion! (Akshay’s note: Hands off my board games.)

New Year’s Resolutions #4 – Keep Investing in our Marriage: Akshay and I have been married for three and a half months and in a relationship for three years. It’s so easy to get comfortable, but what I love about my husband is that he is always trying to figure out how to keep our relationship exciting. In 2018, we are going to come up with fun date ideas and surprise each other, so keep an eye out for those on the blog. It’s crazy to think that in just a few years we’ll have little “mini-me’s” running around. That’s why it’s so important to cherish these moments where it’s just the two of us. (Akshay’s note: Two of us? Stop forgetting about Tom Brady!)

New Year’s Resolutions #5 – Experience the World: When I was a kid, my main travel destination was India. Yes, we did visit other places as well, but it was never something I appreciated or desired. It’s not until recently that I have had a serious travel bug. I know I can’t experience the world in a year, but I definitely want to plan a couple big and small trips in 2018. And when we do eventually start our family, I want our kids to be excited to experience new cultures and really appreciate the diversity of our world.

Anyways, these are my New Years resolutions. I hope they’ve inspired you to create your own. It’s been really great 2017, but I’m so ready for 2018!
