DIY Bridesmaid Proposal Boxes

Bridezilla Duty #1 is to come up with the cutest way possible to ask your girls to be your bridesmaids! As a new bride to be, I can say figuring out the proposal method is probably one of the more exciting processes. (Akshay’s note: you have no idea.) Also, I suggest downloading the Etsy and Pinterest Apps. They have definitely become my best friends and will probably stay that way for the next year!

First thing’s first: figuring out who to ask as my bridesmaids. I think the hardest part is hoping no one’s feelings get hurt. I personally didn’t want a huge bridal party so decided six was the perfect number: 2 maids of honor (sister and sister-in-law) and 4 bridesmaids (Nimita, Sonam, Jade, and Natasha). And just because I didn’t ask all my close friends to be part of my bridal party doesn’t mean they can’t celebrate with me at my bachelorette party or any of the other special events we plan!

Anyways, once I figured out the who, the next thing was coming up with the what!  I utilized Pinterest for ideas and Etsy for the actual gifts:

  1. Floral Satin Robes: I love the idea of wearing these robes and sipping mimosas with my bridesmaids on the big day! I chose 2 light pink, 2 magenta, and 2 mint green for the color scheme. I plan on buying a white lace one for myself closer to the date. Unfortunately, it says they are taking a “short break” so I can’t post the link. However, there are plenty of sites that sell these robes!
  2. Champagne Flutes: I found these champagne glasses on Etsy for a very reasonable price and even got them engraved with everyone’s names. We will definitely be enjoying a mimosa or two on 9.2.17! Click here for the link.
  3. Bridesmaid/Maid Of Honor Puzzle: I saw this and was like WOW MUST HAVE! I also think the puzzle concept is such a unique way to ask. Click here for the link.
  4. Bride Tribe Candles: I saw this on Pinterest and was on a serious mission to find. Once I discovered this Etsy store, I found they had a variety of styles. However, I ended up choosing 3 gold and 3 silver tin Bride Tribe Fabulous Frangipani scented candles. Smelled fabulous! Only problem is the shipping cost was greater than the cost of the candles, which was a huge letdown. Click here for the link.

Now that I had all the goods, the next step was figuring out presentation. I ended up going to Michael’s and buying some materials to start my mini art project:

  1.  6 Wooden Boxes: I originally purchased large ones ($9 per box) because I thought the robes and glasses were going to take up a lot of space.  However, I soon realized that the boxes were too big! Being too excited to care, I began decorating, and after finishing the second box, started to realize that a smaller box made more sense.  I ended up returning to Michael’s the next day to purchase 4 small boxes ($4 per box). Word of advice: Don’t let excitement win over practicality! I spent too much time on the large ones to toss them, so I ended up with 2 large and 4 small ones!
  2. Floral Embellishments ($5-8): I decided on a coral, gold, white color scheme, so I purchased  2 bags of coral flowers and one bag of white flowers to glue onto the front of the boxes. Let me tell you, it took me 2 hours to even think of a concept/style because Pinterest was not helping with inspiration at all! Once I finally figured out a theme I liked, I made sure that each box was slightly unique. With floral embellishments, it can be tricky on figuring out the layout. I ended up preferring the look of  cluttered corners vs. spacing them out everywhere.
  3. Gold Paint Pen ($4): This pen is amazing! You can make the letters thick and thin depending on how you hold the pen.
  4. Stencil ($8): This was a real waste of money! I purchased with the mindset that using this would have better results than my own handwriting. However, I ended up handwriting 2 out of the 6 boxes and liked my script so much better! Also, using the stencil is a lot more stressful because moving it even slightly can ruin everything.
  5. Gold Glitter Letters ($5): I ended up using these for the Maid of Honor Boxes. Loved it, but I can tell the adhesive isn’t very sticky, and will probably fall off soon.
  6. Pearl Borders ($5): Loved using these stickers as accents around the names!
  7. Tull ($4): Bordered the inside of the boxes with this. Makes it look prettier, in my opinion! (Akshay’s note: wtf is ‘tull’?)

I used super glue via a glue gun to put everything together. It was a really fun project, and definitely recommend this as a project for new bride-to-be’s! Your girls will appreciate it :)! See pictures below!
