On Sunday evening a couple weekends ago, Akshay got invited to watch a Ducks vs. Kings game from a luxury hockey suite at the Anaheim Center. I had never been to a hockey game and the idea of watching it from a fancy suite sounded like an opportunity I didn’t want to miss!
However, I had planned, weeks in advance, to hang out with my aunt and sister that same evening. I guiltily called my aunt to ask if we could reschedule and luckily, she was super sweet and accommodating!
Our friends JB and Aileen invited about 10 other family members/friends to join them in the suite, so we were honored to be included! When arriving, we entered the suite using our ticket’s barcode! So high tech! (Akshay’s snobby note: Please. I’ve been to a hockey suite. I’m impressed by much higher tech things.) It was like entering a candy store, except it was a room filled with cheese, crackers, fruits, hot dogs, chicken tenders, sandwiches, and BEER! Not going to lie, I probably spent most of my time in this room because I’m a vacuum of food!
Anyways, the hockey suite extends outside to where there are two rows of seats overlooking the arena. Akshay and I chose seats at the very end, and in retrospect, probably not a good decision. We spent the majority of time running over people’s feet just so we could re-fill on food and drinks. (Akshay’s note: As great as she looks, the amount of food Tika consumes is unreal. I suspect she’s part snake, because I’m pretty sure she doesn’t actually chew her food.) For the parts I did watch, it was mind-blowing! The hockey players were getting into fights majority of the time, and EVERYONE, including the referees, just watched!
And last, I can’t forget to mention the dessert cart! It had a selection of pies, cakes, tarts, cheesecakes, and more! Akshay chose an oreo cheesecake while I asked for a vanilla cake. While the serving sizes were huge, I still somehow managed to inhale half the cake!
Overall, I had a blast! As you can probably tell, I’m not really into sports and spent most of the post talking about food. However, I always enjoy sports when there are good friends and entertainment involved!
Words of advice:
- Park closer to the exit of the parking lot, since it’s a madhouse when the hockey game ends. However, we forgot we were staying after the game to watch JB play some hockey, so we had a nice long walk at the end of the night!
- Bring some warm clothes….I was freezing for the most part, and I would say leggings and a sweater count as dressing warm! (Akshay’s note: The thing that excited Tika more than anything about the night was wearing her new Uggs. Sigh)
