2016 NFL Week 5 Bets

Better late than never: my 2016 Week 5 NFL bets. Had a good week last week in a sense. We lost the Colts and Lions bets, but those could have easily been covered, as they were field goal games. Lessons learned there: The Colts o-line is atrocious, and the Lions continue to be a high variance team.

The Broncos and Vikings crushed their lines, while the Cowboys won by a touchdown. Maybe there’s a theme with good defenses for the first two, and like I mentioned, the Cowboys are simply a better team than last week.

On to Week 5!

Season: 4-2; +2 units

Week 4: 3-2; +1 unit

EAGLES (-3.5) @ Lions (1 unit): Yes, the Lions are high variance and at home. Philly is also coming off a bye, has a great D, and Carson Wentz is better than anyone expected, his own mother included. I’ll take my chances with the stupid 3.5, though obviously, wish it was a straight 3.

RAMS (pk) vs Bills (0.5 units): This could easily be a failure, which is why it’s a lower unit bet. I feel like the Bills are coming off a high, traveling cross country, against a good D. If the Bills win this handily, I might start becoming a believer.

PATRIOTS (-10.5) @ Browns (0.5 units): Fun bet. I’m a Patriots fan, Angry Brady, Ninkovich is back, rookie QB, Belichick can take away Pryor, etc. Full disclosure: putting money on anything greater than a touchdown spread is almost like lighting money on fire because of garbage time in the NFL, but I feel like the Pats may go up big enough to make it moot. (Now watch them get stomped by Cleveland.)
